Look after thyself

There was a time, when I feel invincible. In the cold winter, I would be the only one who can bear the cold water when the hot water is warming up. Flu or fever is a once or twice a year thing. No problem with health at all. My friends joked that the bugs are scared of me being a doctor's daughter. Never had any allergy, eat and drink almost anything halal and snack on chocs whenever.

The BUT is coming. BUT now all that has to take a second look. When pregnant with my son, I discovered I have traits of Thallasemia minor, a genetic blood disorder. Almost 9 mths ago I undergone a surgery to remove a tumour growing rapidly within. When biopsy result confirmed the fully encapsulated tumour was cancerous, a 25-session of radiotheraphy ensued. Treatment done and I got on with my life. 6 months went by and next thing I know..or chose to admit, I found another lump at the same area. Could this be a recurrence? I chose not to get worried, went straight to the hospital, got another date of surgery 3 days later. Surgery went fine, the result of biopsy was found to be negative, mass was actually the normal tissue reaction to radiotherapy. I was so relieved. I thank the Almighty for this reminder.

It can happen to anyone, anytime and anywhere. As my friend said, everyone has their share of events in this life. I am very thankful for the love and support of my family and friends. Bless them all.
